TEDI-London awarded by IHE for Inspiring Course and Advancing International Education
We are delighted to announce that we won two awards at the Independent Higher Education awards on Tuesday 26 November 2024.
The IHE Awards are held annually to recognise and celebrate the innovation and excellent practice taking place across the UK’s small and specialist education providers.
We were thrilled to win not one but two awards for the Inspiring Course and Advancing International Education categories.
Inspiring Course
In response to the worldwide shortage of engineers, our Global Design Engineering degree was designed to inspire more young people to join the profession. Our goal is to revolutionise engineering education, producing diverse, industry-ready graduates. Our innovative approach includes:
- A multi-disciplinary design engineering curriculum
- Project-based learning
- No traditional lecture halls
- No A-Level maths/physics entry prerequisites
- Industry collaboration throughout projects
- A focus on developing broader soft skills as well as technical
The Inspiring Course award recognises how our programme is responding to sector priorities in the delivery of education – with an emphasis on widening access to study, addressing shortages in the profession, innovation in teaching and learning, and embedding employability. Judges praised our focus on supporting the development of soft skills alongside subject knowledge, as well as employer input aligned to industry needs.
Advancing International Education
We were honoured to also receive the IHE Advancing International Education Award, in memory of the late Charlene Allen.
This award recognises how we support global engineering, collaboration and hands-on learning through our international education initiatives including:
- Our 6 week Summer and Winter Residentials, which have welcomed over 300 international undergraduate students from our founders universities, who have undertook a design sprint related to a global sustainability challenge
- The Study Abroad programme, which enables TEDI-London students to spend two semesters in either Sydney or Arizona in their third year
- Our recent collaboration with the Afe Babalola Centre for Transnational Education, supporting thirty educators from Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.
“These awards are proof that teamwork, creativity, and a sprinkle of passion make magic happen. Huge thanks to everyone—past and present—who’s poured their energy into shaping our courses, residentials, and study abroad adventures. You’re the reason our students are thriving (and probably adding “world domination” to their career plans). Here’s to keeping the brilliance going and dreaming even bigger!” – Prof Lisa Brodie, TEDI-London’s Executive Dean
We are honoured to receive this recognition from the IHE, made possible by the dedication and commitment of TEDI-London staff, and our founding university and industry partners.
