TEDI-London secures innovation funding from the Office for Students

We are thrilled to have been awarded Higher Education Innovation funding from the Office for Students (OfS).

This funding will support a project run in collaboration with Norland College, Richmond, the American International University in London, Independent Higher Education, Applied Inspiration, and Diversity and Ability, to explore alternative assessment approaches that best support student needs.

As one of just eleven successful bids to receive funding, we will develop and implement a model of inclusive practice that will support students with disabilities, neurodiversity, and mental health issues to have greater success during their studies.

The key objectives of the project include:

  • creating a new model to help disabled students achieve greater success
  • developing a mechanism to measure student confidence and self-efficacy in assessments
  • producing a report and new resources to contribute to the evidence base on inclusive assessment approaches.

TEDI-London’s Associate Dean of Academic Engagement and Partnership, Dr Peter Kay, says “I am excited that TEDI-London has been awarded this funding to lead a consortium to help change how alternative assessments are viewed and implemented in Higher Education. This project particularly aligns with our values and ethos to providing an innovative and inclusive engineering education. I hope that the findings from this project will have a wide and long lasting positive impact on student performance and experience.”

The project aligns with our commitment to continually seeking new ways to support students at TEDI-London by providing more personalised and inclusive assessment options.
