Life is busy and traffic congestion is an issue. Sometimes you know where you want to go, but there are just too many people in the way- we all know the feeling. Well, it is exactly the same for these HEXBUGS.
INTRODUCTION
You’ll learn about how to calculate the speed a HEXBUG can travel whilst using your imagination to devise an exciting course/maze for the HEXBUG to travel.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
At least one Hexbug Nano, some card if you want to build your own obstacles or just a collection of house hole items to act as walls to block the way of the Hexbug.
QUESTION TO THINK ABOUT
How long does it take for a HEXBUG to travel 100mm? If it takes X seconds to travel 100mm, how long will it take to travel 1m? (This is 1000mm) If it takes X seconds to travel 1m, how long will it take to travel 1Km? (This is 1000Km or 1000000mm) Speed = distance ÷ time (unit are Metres per second, shown as m/s) To convert m/s into km/hr: multiply m/s by 18, and then divide by 5. This number is the speed the HEXBUG travels in Km/h.
Activity reflection
What went well? What didn’t go so well? What would you do differently next time?
