Women in engineering scholarship

  • About the scholarship

Engineering UK data shows that in 2018/19 only 21% of new entrants onto engineering and technology courses were women. This scholarship is a positive action to encourage more participation from women onto our engineering course at undergraduate level.

  • Number available

1 full and up to 4 partial scholarships

  • Value

Individuals who receive the full scholarship grant will be awarded £8,600 per year. Partial scholarships will be either 25% or 50% of this value.  It will be your choice as to how the money is used (e.g. to offset the money against tuition fees or use it for living costs).

You will also be offered financial support to the minimum value of £400 per year (or 25% or 50% of this value for partial scholarships) to attend engineering or career events. This money will cover costs of tickets, transport and accommodation.

  • Extra support

You will be assigned a 'Women in Engineering' mentor in your second year, to meet with on an informal basis at least once per term. This mentor will provide you with both coaching and careers advice and will be an established woman practitioner from TEDI-London's industry network.

  • Eligibility criteria

To apply you’ll need to be a woman (or to self-identify as female) with a Home fee status, holding an offer to study at TEDI-London.

  • Assessment criteria

    Merit Based

Eligible applicants will be asked to complete either:

    A 2 minute Vlog

    or

    A 300 word Blog

    On the question:

'How will the role of engineers in 2040 be different to the role of engineers today?'

    Or

'What do you feel is the biggest global challenge we are facing today and how will engineers be involved in meeting that challenge?'

Here is further applicant information including assessment criteria, and read our student financial support policy.
