Take on a design engineering challenge and get valuable experience for your CV by taking part in our Thinking Ahead programme.
Thinking Ahead is an online programme, inviting you to take part in a design engineering challenge. This years’ Light Up theme will get you to design a prototype of a community structure which, by using light and colour as its primary aesthetic, encourages visitors and caters for people with a range of health and wellbeing issues. Your choice of structure could be a building, a sculpture, an installation, or an immersive experience.
You will be supported to explore topics including user-centred design, sustainability, innovation, and psychology.
You could choose to work on this challenge independently or you could form a group with your friends (max 5 people).
The programme will run from Monday 24 May – Friday 4 June and requires approx 14 hours a week. The hours are flexible and you can tailor them to your schedule.
You will learn by accessing and working through content via our online Learning Tree. This content (videos, webinars, blogs, articles) can be accessed at any time during the programme. You will receive access to introductory learning content from Monday 24 May to give you a jump start on your project planning. In the second week, there are sessions with the TEDI-London team and industry masterclasses to help you with the challenge.
At the end of the programme, you will submit your project in the form of a presentation which will be no longer than 5 slides. All projects will be reviewed and shortlisted by the TEDI-London team, and shortlisted projects will be invited to present their project to our panel of judges who will decide the winners of Light Up! This presentation should be no longer than 10 minutes.
Yes! There are prizes! Winners will receive an industry coaching session and professional references (from TEDI-London).
